pened in 1986, Ramon Duterte Memorial National High School, was named after the father of then OIC Mayor Ramon Duterte, whose efforts gave rise to the reconstruction of the school's destroyed buildings during a fire that occurred that same year. The first building was constructed on donated property of the Solon-Hagni family, which was adjacent to Guadalupe Elementary School. After a fire that broke and destroyed the buildings, reconstruction took place in the current location of the school, in V. Rama St. Guadalupe. The school building was built from donations and genuine patronage of kind-hearted Cebuanos. One of these generous Cebuano was the Chinese philanthropist Frederick Ong Jr. in which the building was named after him and was divided to house the school's faculty room, the school clinic, the TLE laboratories and the third year classrooms.
The first years of the school was manned only by ten (10) faculty members who took turns in teaching all the subjects to the high school students. Ramon Duterte Memorial High School had their first batch of exhilarated graduates in 1990 under the proud aegis of the school's first principal, Madame Rea Angtud and her staff of diligent and conscientious teachers.
After 23 years of realizing the dreams of our young Cebuano learners, Ramon Duterte Memorial National High School has now over three thousand five hundred students from all around the City of Cebu.
